Statement of Purpose for River of Life Outreach
2 Corinthians 3:6: He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
The Word of God is the basis for the validity of all that we hold to as Truth. We are under girded and held together by and on the Word. Without it, these statements and beliefs are simply words without the power of God’s authority. The spiritual and relational building of River of Life is established on and maintained by basic foundational truths from the Word. Just as a physical building, our stability as a body is in direct relation to the foundation.
Man-made rules and regulations, “…are all destined to perish with use because they are based on human commands and teachings.” (Col. 2:22)
Even so, there is much we have yet to learn, understand and see through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. The most scripturally correct document we could write would still be “in part”. When we see the Lord wholly as His entire unified Body, all that is “in part” will pass away. As we grow in love and in the knowledge of the Lord, we pray that experience and revelation will become one. Knowledge can never replace experience but experience is never meant to be a solitary teacher. True maturity is a result of growing in love. As we abide in Him and His Word abides in us, we pray that these truths will under gird the Holy Spirit’s work within this corporate body of River of Life.

1 Timothy 1:5 “The goal of our instruction is love, from a pure heart and a sincere faith.”
I. Spiritual Covering To provide a healthy and balanced covering of Spiritual Authority for those who feel called to this local Body. We honor the place of spiritual authority in our own lives through submission to the oversight of those over us in the Lord.
Hebrews 13:17-18 “Obey your leaders and submit to those in authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.”
A. Understanding that the Body of Christ is universal, we have purposed to be connected through individual and corporate relationships. The commitment of corporate leadership is to continually work to maintain relationships with one another and with the leadership of KingsWay Connection. B. It is the responsibility of those who commit to this local body to build relationships with other members and to be our brother’s keeper. We are willing to risk learning to grow together in love, confessing our sincere and continual need for the grace and mercy of God which enables us to grow into a mature body, fitly joined as One.
II. Worship To passionately Worship the Lord with all our spirit, soul, and body as a corporate body and to encourage consistent individual worship.
Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
Psalms 147:11(NKJ) “The Lord takes pleasure in His people…” A. To worship the Lord is our highest calling. Obedience to this first commandment brings balance to all other areas of responsibility both corporately and as individuals. B. We encourage the diversity of artistic expressions in all mediums of worship as we seek to provide an environment in which these expressions may function and flourish.
III. The Word of God To build and strengthen truths from the Word of God through instruction as the Lord gives us wisdom and insight while encouraging the discipline of individual study in the Word.
Colossians 3:16, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom…”
Romans 12:2, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
IV. Intercession and Prayer To encourage Intercession and Prayer individually and corporately, understanding that as followers of Christ, we are engaged in spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6:12,18 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” A. To be a spiritual womb of life through corporate and individual intercession so that the purposes of God may come to fruition in this time and place.
In Galatians 4:19, Paul wrote, “My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you…” B. To be faithful to pray according to the Word of God for Israel.
Psalms 122:6-8 (Ampl.) “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you (the Holy City)! May peace be within your walls and prosperity within your palaces! For my brethren and companions’ sake, I will now say, ‘Peace be within you’. For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek, inquire for, and require your good.”
Romans 11:18, 24 “…You do not support the root, but the root supports you. After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!”
V. The Family of God To support the function of the family. As we honor the natural family, we commit to grow together as a part of the spiritual Family of God. (Refer to Ephesians 5:21-33; 6:1-4)
Psalms 68: 5-6 “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families…”
VI. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit To encourage the operation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Refer to I Corinthians 12:4-12) A. To equip through teaching, demonstration, and giving opportunity for exercising the use of the gifts in the healthy environment of oversight and accountability that the local body provides. B. To teach that the purpose of the gifts is for use in everyday life in everyday situations.
I Corinthians 14:1,3,12b “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort….try to excel in gifts that build up the church”
VII. Corporate Purpose To fulfill the Corporate Purposes of God as they are revealed to us in this physical and spiritual place through the power of the Spirit while resisting dependence on our own natural abilities. A. To encourage one another to speak with boldness the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and to be a testimony of the character of Christ in all aspects of our lives. (home, work, etc.) B. As the corporate body of River of Life, we are committed to the ministry of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 “All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” C. We desire to serve and celebrate with the returning prodigal sons of the Father in their return home.
VIII. Apostolic Commission We believe that the Lord has given us an Apostolic commission. A. The apostle’s work of oversight in the Body of Christ is vital for the health of the foundation of the church. B. Apostles are those who labor in the Lord to maintain a relationship with the leaders God places in authority within the local Body.
Ephesians 2:19-22 “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.”
In Conclusion: We desire to be a people who respond with demonstrative passion in complete love to the Lord’s love for us. We are called as a local body to love and to manifest through the Holy Spirit, Jesus, in the earth. Our highest pursuit is to promote who He is through worship in everything we do: individually, as a corporate body, and as a healthy environment for the arts. We are fully committed to the preparation that God is working in us as the Bride of Christ.
We believe that the apostolic commission is a call to labor together until Christ is formed in His church.
Ephesians 5:1-2: Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Philippians 4:18-19:I have received full payment and am amply supplied now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” We share in the needs of those we are a part of in KingsWay Connection confident that “…God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
As Paul, Silas and Timothy wrote to the Thessalonians, we also pray that the work of this local body continues to become a work produced by faith, a team labor prompted by love so that we may become a people of endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Thessalonians 1:3)
Ephesians 3:16-20: ... that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith… being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
